about

“The Danish freejazz/noise duo (occasionally trio) Blind Mans Band, sticks it´s head out again with a new CD/Digital release on the Danish experimental label Nische. The Copenhagen based improv ensemble is still at it with fierce and fearless energy, that has had them likened to legendary artists like Sun Ra, Cecil Taylor, Miles Davis and others.
This recording came about during the infamous Covid-19 lockdown in Copenhagen, and consists of 11 pieces of music recorded in Rønn´s studio, with Rønn on acoustic Piano and Poulsen on electric Bass and the occasional Dictaphone and FX. Yet a new constellation for the duo sometimes trio, and one that obviously caters for a new and somewhat softer sound, given the acoustic nature of the piano and possibly a greater attention to sonic details.
Blind Mans Band are by no means strangers on the Danish freejazz and noise-scene, Claus Poulsen and Christian Rønn both have a big footstep planted in the sonic landscape that has helped make Copenhagen a happening place for experimental music and between them releases and collabs counts f. ex. Bleeder, Alarm 112, Tatsuya Yoshida, Ikue Mori, Peter Peter, P.O. Jørgens, Aram Shelton and many more.
Bring your spoon when this healthy diet of fresh improv is served and be carefull not to fall into the hot and spicy pot. Sides are slippery. Blind Mans Band don´t look back.
